Let’s give that blog a name
It seems that settling on a blog name was more difficult than than actually deciding that I would continue to blog for another year.
Yes. I went back and forth. On one hand I could continue to blog -– you know, whenever I felt like it instead of the self-imposed mandate of each and every day. Or perhaps when I actually HAD something to blog about rather than the random stuff I posted throughout last year.
Of course, that was just too “unorganized” for me. I would have to internally choose a specific day of the week and then I’d get all flustered if I missed that day and the dates would all be messed up and then what if I really, REALLY wanted to blog on a day that was not the designated day?!?
Freaky. I know. I know. Which is further proof that THINKING is not all it’s cut out to be!
Regardless of my thought process I finally decided to commit to another year. I mean, no one has been mean or anything about my sharing. So I guess I haven’t offended anyone. I might as well continue.
Whew! I bet you’re wondering about the blog name. Either that or wondering how you let yourself get sucked into reading this far! Ha!
Well, I’m not that creative and I would usually go with an alliteration, but then I couldn’t decide if I wanted Christina or Michelle in the blog title. I went to my next “creative” option which is to look for a quote (yeah, now you know my Bartolome Banner secret to get things rolling when I sit down to write).
I immediately thought of “So long, and thanks for all the fish” which is the title of the 4th book in Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy trilogy... get it, 4th book in the trilogy? Trilogy, but there are four books. (Am I the only one chuckling at that?) Then I thought there was something too final in “so long” so I’m saving that for my eulogy.
I started searching for Battlestar Galactica or X-Files or Galaxy Quest quotes, because yeah, I’m geeky that way. Then I remembered the Firefly series and found this quote by Mal:
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: [on the ship's intercom] This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then - explode.
Totally appropos. I mean, that Nathan Fillion -- what a cutie. Loved him from back when he was in that Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place. And then when he took the helm of Serenity -- Josh Whedon has a magical touch when casting. Ah, but back to the quote.
Slight Turbulence. That’s pretty much how things around here go. You know. Little problems. Here and there. We experience a little jostling and then BAM every once in a while things explode. Yet life goes on. You pick up the remains and move on through space and time.
And you know what? I kinda like it. My Life that is. Because the turbulence reminds me to make the most of every single moment because a lot of the times, those explosions are filled with joy and happiness.
